We Four Bears

A site about our family! Mostly or all actually of Josie and Dana. I mean who cares about us anymore anyway?

Day at the Faire!

We went to the Alameda County Faire on Sunday with friends Anne and Bill and their daughter, Alexis (Josie's friend). Josie liked to look at the goats (from a safe distance). But the rabbits, uh....she didn't like the rabbits at all. I wonder what makes a child scared of a rabbit? She liked to watch the birds - until they flew. We also went on our first faire ride, the elephants, which is like the Dumbo ride at Disneyland. She didn't look scared at all, I think she was just taking it all in.

Josie peering in at the goats, which she liked until they started sniffing her shoes.

Our baby girl is 1 !!

No, it can't be......it couldn't have possibly been a year already!!
Our little girl is now walking around, tumbling and getting her first bump, feeding herself , drinking from a cup, eating crackers, and opening drawers, and much more.
The last year has been so much fun, Josie is a joy to watch learn and grow. Although we are somewhat sad to see the first year end, we look forward to what is ahead for us. We know she will continue to amaze us more and more everyday.

Josie also went to the doctors today for her 12-month check up. Her doctor says her length and weight are all good. She is 22 pounds 14 oz and is 30.5 inches long. The doctor thinks she will be 5'8" to 5'9" tall. She got two shots today and cried for about 10-15 seconds. Josie also fell down for the first time today bumping her head and knee. I am sure this will be happening lots now that she is getting used to walking on two feet. Here are many pictures from this monumental weekend.

Now that Josie is 1, she can have strawberries. Here she is enjoying her first one.

Kitchen - Before and after & Josie sleeping (again)

You are looking at our old kitchen. You are also looking at ALL the cabinet space we used to have. I never even had a drawer next to my stove for oven mits....I know that sounds trivial, but having a drawer for pot holders next to my stove is one of my favorite new things!

Here are a few shots of our kitchen after....
This is looking into our kitchen from our new addition. The opening is where our 8 foot slider used to be.

This is looking into the new addition from the far side of the kitchen.

Our sink is in the same place, but our oven moved across the way.

Our fridge moved to the right a few feet, and we have a nice big pantry on the left with slideouts. LOVE IT! We also made our kitchen a foot wider in the middle. That made a big difference, it was way too narrow before.

So, we (being Alex) still have to put up the crown moulding in the kitchen, and we have to put knobs on our cabinets. Other than that, we are pretty much done.

Tonight is a very warm night. Josie is sleeping in her summer pajamas. I looked in on her and this is how she was sleeping. Good flash on the camera, because her room was dark and it turned out pretty good. Look at our little angel, we can't believe she is almost 1!

A little visitor!

On Saturday night Alex and I babysat Alexis from Josie's daycare. Alexis is 2 months older than Josie. They had fun together. When Alexis got here, Josie laughed and clapped, then crawled over to her, and all four of us are pretty sure Josie tried to give her a hug. She put her arm and upper body around Alexis' head. It was pretty cute. She was so happy to have a friend at her house. Alexis' parents and us are going to take turns having 'date nights', this way neither of us will have to pay a babysitter, and our kids will have each other to play with as well.

This next photo is of Josie examining bath bubbles on her hand. This was Josie's first bath with bubbles. If that sounds crazy to you it's because she had a slight case of eczema before and her doctor warned against lots of soaps. But, her eczema has been gone for months, so I thought I would try some. She wasn't so sure about the bubbles at first though.
